As well as a new architecture, the new RX 9000 series of graphics cards brought with it a new version of FSR: FSR4. With this version, AMD is offering a high-performance upscaling technology that is also easy on the eye, unlike previous versions. The only “issue” is that this version is currently only supported by the RX 9000. However, some leakers and insiders indicate that the Reds are working on a way to bring support for this tech to other GPUs such as RDNA3 cards.
FSR4 soon to be extended to RDNA3?
Apparently, AMD is continuing its efforts to support FSR 4 on RDNA3. However, we don’t have much more information, meaning the sources don’t actually know much more either. What we do know is that the Reds are taking their time to get things right and avoid any inconvenience.
However, this also seems to be an important step towards making the technology more present in games. Indeed, the more compatible the tech is with a large number of users, the more inclined development studios will be to develop its support. In this way, the more widespread it becomes, the more it will be perceived as a credible alternative to NVIDIA’s DLSS… This version is already doing very well, thanks to AI. To put it bluntly, it is compared to DLSS3 from the greens in terms of rendering, which is far from anecdotal.
In any case, if any announcements are to be made, we’ll certainly have to wait until Computex. At the show, the reds are expected to talk about their new partners and the new games they support. What’s more, the brand is expected to announce the RX 9060 XT, so let’s hope that’s the case. As a reminder, the company was already expected to announce its RX 9070 (XT) at CES, but disappointed on this score. But we can’t say that it hasn’t made up for it since.
