AMD says RX 9000 MSRPs will remain available

AMD has been quick to respond to rumours that the Radeon RX 9070 ( MSRP ) recommended retail prices are “introductory only”. Frank Azor took the floor to try and put his foot down and suggest that these rumours are completely unfounded. He also said that AMD is working with AIBs to ensure that prices remain consistent…Which is not to say, if words have any value, that MSRP prices are going to be guaranteed.

MSRP RX 9000

Frankly, up until the actual launch of the RX 9070 and 9070 XT, AMD had played its cards pretty well, with high-performance cards that had some serious advantages over the RTX 50s, which were struggling to convince. But once again, the launch was chaotic. Objectively speaking, we were able to confirm with our contacts that there were indeed stocks, without any comparison with RTX 50 stocks. But demand was very strong, putting several merchant sites to their knees from the very start. As a result, cards positioned at MSRP were quickly switched to ‘not available’. Potential customers then found themselves with only the custom versions available, obviously at much higher prices.

In these times, the pressure logically rose again, cancelling out in a matter of moments the luminous halo that had settled over the new AMD cards. It’s a situation that the reds haven’t seen for a while on GPUs…

So it’s good that AMD has officially stepped up to the plate to say that the situation will be resolved and that the shortage seems to be caused by excellent sales (and not a lack of stock). The fact that Frank AZOR, who is not an intern (Chief Architect of Gaming Solutions and Gaming Marketing at AMD) confirms, even if it’s not entirely clear, that AMD is pushing for MSRP cards to continue arriving is obviously good news… Count on us to check whether words turn into deeds.
