AMD drops the RX 7600 just before the RTX 4060 arrives

We’re just a few hours away from the launch of Nvidia’s RTX 4060, and AMD seems to have decided to try and spoil the party. A look at the prices of its Radeon RX 7600 suggests a strategy of lowering prices, making the red solution particularly aggressive in the face of the future Nvidia card. Indeed, even if we’re only dealing with leaks/rumors at the moment, comparisons between the two cards are already in the air. We’ll remain wary until the end, however, as Nvidia has a habit of releasing its latest drivers just a few hours before the official launch. However, the leaks that have been published establish that the RX 7600 is 14% faster in 3DMark Fire Strike at 1080p, 11% faster at 1440p and 17% faster in 4K. If we focus on DirectX 12 (with 3DMark Time Spy), the RTX 4060 would be ahead by 4% at 1440p. Switching to 4K would allow the 4060 to maintain this gap, with an advantage of around 5%.

Once again, it’s when you switch on Ray Tracing that the gap widens. Under 3DMark Speed Way at 1440p, the RTX 4060 is 18% faster. For the classic Port Royal at 1440p, the gap is reduced to 7%.

Now let’s talk price. While in Europe you can find the RX 7600 for €299 if you look hard enough, a drop has been noticed on the other side of the Atlantic, where a version manufactured by MSI is listed at $249. That’s still $20 less than the MSRP.
