A VR headset that can literally kill you

Some of us may remember the former co-founder of Oculus, Palmer Luckey. Well, I guess the guy is inhabited by VR or simply that VR makes you crazy. Still in his quest to make the VR headset the grail of gamers, he has just designed a headset based on the famous Japanese anime Sword Art Online.

In order to stick as much as possible with the philosophy of the anime, Palmer Luckey has thus created a VR device with explosive charges. What could be just a joke is in fact not, as he explains on his blog: “If you die in the game, you die in real life”. While many focus on the development of interaction in VR with the arrival of touch, smell … Palmer Luckey seeks to go much further, to extreme levels for thrill seekers. His goal is to introduce the situation of “life or death” directly on the head of the players. The best way according to him to make people focus more on the objective and decide to take the game seriously. Luckey argues that “only the threat of serious consequences can make a game feel real”.
