A Ryzen 3 5100 on AM4? Another one!

There’s no end in sight for AMD, which is planning to launch a new CPU on its AM4 socket. If we thought the Ryzen 5 5600F was the last of the last, this will clearly not be the case. A leaker has spotted a Ryzen 3 5100 whose image comes from China. This time, don’t expect a thunderbolt, but rather a CPU for office and multimedia use.

Ryzen 3 5100: a small, affordable CPU!

In reality, we’re expecting a small CPU with just four cores and eight threads. It will use Zen 3 architecture and TSMC’s 7nm etching technology, and will operate at 3.8 GHz with a turbo boost to 4.2 GHz. The turbo frequency is equivalent to that of a Ryzen 3 5300G, but the base frequency is 200 MHz lower.

TDP will be kept under control with its 65W rating. Finally, as was traditional with AM4 processors, it won’t feature an iGPU, even though it doesn’t have an F suffix in its reference.

Now, given what’s on offer here, clearly we’re not expecting a brute of gaming performance, but rather a CPU intended for multimedia/Internet browsing uses. Being soon in 2026, buying a 4-core processor just for gaming doesn’t really make sense… Unless, perhaps, you play competitive games. But for that, it’s better to go for a CPU with more cores.

In any case, the selling price will have to be on the low side to convince potential customers. Another possibility is that this is a launch aimed at OEMs and system integrators, who would offer pre-assembled PCs at very low prices. Finally, there’s the question of availability in France.
