Last June and July, we learned that AMD could offer two new processors with its Ryzen 7 9700F and Ryzen 5 9500F. These two CPUs, as suggested by the presence of the suffix F, have no iGPU, while their TDP is reduced to 65W.
Ryzen 7 9700F and Ryzen 5 9500F about to arrive?
Broadly speaking, the 9700F is equivalent to the 9700X. The latter features 8 cores and 16 threads, all in Zen 5 architecture, while the 9500F boasts a total of 6 cores and 12 threads, again in Zen 5 architecture. However, the big difference with the “classic” Ryzen is the absence of integrated graphics. In fact, it has no iGPU. Admittedly, the graphics part was really quite ridiculous, and only has two compute units, but in the event of a graphics card failure, or even a blown power connector(?), you can still use your PC… Not for gaming, but still.
Now there’s the question of prices, since these CPUs, which don’t include graphics, should be cheaper than models with iGPUs. However, ShopBLT’s initial listings tend to suggest the opposite, but this is just a first listing. For example, the 9500F is listed at $218, compared with $294 for the 9700F. Currently, a 9600X starts at $200, against $329 for the 9700X. We’ll keep an eye on the prices.
Last but not least, these chips benefit from a reduced TDP of just 65W, making them energy-efficient and moderately hot. We’ll just have to wait a few more weeks to find out the real official sales price.
As things stand, we’re probably dealing with placeholder prices from ShopBLT.
