Heading for the United States, where Micro Center temporarily unveiled the sales prices for the RX 9070 series. While an AMD slide seemed to suggest recommended retail prices below $700, it’s clear from the prices that they won’t be met. However, given that the Reds haven’t announced their prices either, it’s hard to know to what extent this is more placeholder than anything else.
RX 9070 series, it’s scary at Micro Center!
Once again we can thank VideoCardz for capturing this listing before it was removed. These figures are scary, to say the least. With the exception of two ASRock references, all the cards are indecently priced… At least, beyond the $700 stipulated by AMD.
However, it’s also likely that we’re dealing with placeholders. What makes us say this is the crazy price of PowerColor’s RX 9070 Reaper. It’s well over $1000. Clearly, the brand won’t be selling any unless it’s a last resort. What’s more, the availability date doesn’t look good either: February 28. This doesn’t fit with rumors of a March 6 launch date.
So the question remains: what price will future customers be willing to pay for AMD hardware? That’s always the question: even if AMD offers more memory or performance to rival NVIDIA (in a given segment), the price tag has to be drastically lower than that of the chameleon for people to buy RADEON. Clearly, over $800, we doubt the Reds’ ability to sell cards… Even if the RTX 50s suffer from major problems. But who knows, maybe the Reds will have a pleasant surprise in store for us on February 28, when they announce the RX 9070 (XT).
