Geekom about to launch a Mini PC powered by a Qualcomm chip?

Geekom, known here for its reliable, high-performance AMD and Intel mini-PCs, is preparing to launch the first mini-PC equipped with an ARM Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite chip, according to leaks from the Chinese social network Weibo. This is somewhat paradoxical news, given that Qualcomm has put an end to its development kit for a Mini PC based on its ARM SoCs for Windows.

Unfortunately, we don’t know much about this next reference that GEEKOM could market. A mini PC that would take its place in the Copilot+ PC category. The leaked image doesn’t show much other than an aluminium device with the same overall look as the brand’s products for some time now.

Performance and compatibility, the key to a highly theoretical success…

The Snapdragon X Elite is designed to deliver performance comparable to or even better than that of current x86 processors, while consuming less energy. This energy efficiency means greater autonomy for portable devices and a reduction in the heat generated, simplifying the cooling of compact systems. But one of the major challenges in adopting ARM chips for Windows is software compatibility. Our report with the first wave of Copilot+ PCs didn’t really convince us. However, we do know that Microsoft is really pushing ARM solutions through its PC Copilot+ label. For the moment, these solutions benefit from Qualcomm’s NPU, but are struggling to convince in terms of compatibility…

This possible launch would enable Qualcomm to continue to claim major ambitions in the PC market. The company believes in the future widespread adoption of ARM chips in desktop computers. This transition could offer users a viable alternative to traditional X86 architectures. Several rumours confirm that Nvidia would also like to enter this market in the near future.

Geekom’s mini-PC, powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite ARM chip, could be a kind of ‘warm-up lap’ for a battle that could shake up the global PC market in the coming months.
