Shortly before their official announcement, AMD itself leaks the design of its new graphics cards. We’re talking about the RX 7700 XT and RX 7800 XT, AMD’s cards for the Enthousiast sector.
RX 7700 XT and RX 7800 XT: dual-fan cards!
AMD offers us compact graphics cards. Indeed, the future cards unveiled by the brand will be equipped with a heatsink whose size is “reasonable”. By “reasonable”, we mean a cooling system with two fans mounted on a heatsink occupying two slots in a case.
Otherwise, as far as the visual aspect is concerned, we find the same state of mind as that offered with the RX 7900 XT/X. The shell is black, angular, with no RGB lighting. The heatsink continues to feature red aluminum fins towards the rear of the heatsink. Finally, a RADEON logo is also present on the edge, between the two windmills.
Here, the 7800 XT features two fans, slightly eccentric towards the rear. We can guess that the first fan will blow right onto the GPU. It remains to be seen whether the finned block is based on copper heat pipes or a steam chamber. We’ve already made up our mind, but a steam chamber would be somewhat disproportionate for cards consuming less than 300W.
Once again, expect cards with 16 GB and 12 GB VRAM. The 7800 XT, which offers the most memory, is said to offer a 256-bit bus, compared with 192 bits for the 7700 XT. The respective bandwidths are 624 GB/s and 432 GB/s, according to VideoCardz figures. Finally, the 7800 XT is said to offer 60 compute units and 3840 stream processors, compared with 54 compute units and 3456 stream processors for the 7700 XT.
We’ll just have to wait for AMD’s announcement to find out the selling price. Wccftech suggests a price range of $550 to $600 for the 7800 XT, compared with $350 to $450 for the other model. Their aim is to compete with the RTX 4060 and RTX 4070.
