After ASUS and MSI, it’s Zotac’s turn to jack up the prices of its graphics cards… Particularly its RTX 5090 Solid and AMP Extreme Infinity. Indeed, you can forget about MSRP, with the flagship cards from the Hong Kong-based brand selling for over $1000 above the advertised price, ouch!
Zotac also raises the sale price of its RTX 5090!
Like ASUS and MSI, Zotac sells direct through its North American shop. The latter currently offers only two 5090s, which are trending upwards in price. At launch, the AMP Extreme Trinity version was priced at $2499.99, compared with $1999 for the MSRP. Admittedly, this is a premium version with a redesigned heatsink, custom PCB and extra features, so it’s only natural to pay a premium. On the other hand, if we were already wondering whether extra metal, LEDs and a redesigned PCB were really worth $500, what’s the situation now? By mid-March, the price had risen from $100 (confirmed by the Wayback Machine) to the current $2999… More than $1000 above the official price.
The situation is similar for the brand’s entry-level range. As a reminder, the Solid range represents the brand’s entry-level range. The heatsinks are less elaborate, as is the printed circuit board, and there is less RGB. The only alternative to the AMP is the factory overclocked version, currently priced at $2699.99. Remember that at launch, the shop listed this version at $2200. The price increase has been gradual, and last week it was still listed at $2369.99.
Unfortunately, this upward trend in graphics card prices is a general one, and no-one seems to be spared. NVIDIA’s big partners and smaller ones alike are jacking up their prices to completely stupid levels. But as long as it sells…
