XFX: $3.15 million worth of GPUs seized in China

Clearly, we don’t joke with customs and XFX has just paid the price. Indeed, a shipment of GPUs worth $3.15 million has just been seized by the Chinese authorities. The fault of a bad labeling of the products.

XFX: $3.15 million worth of GPUs seized by the Chinese authorities!

XFX

For the record, this concerns a mislabeling on graphics cards. The goal of the maneuver is to pass off ” premium ” cards as more accessible models. As is often the case, import fees, customs duties and taxes depend on the declared value of the goods. By doing this, we artificially lower the value of our cargo and at the end, we make nice savings..

But not this time. Indeed, during a control by the customs of Meilin and Huanggang, it turned out that a sample of cards presented a doubtful labeling. Finally, after analysis, it concerned no less than 5,840 cards from XFX. The value of the shipment? $3.15 million, yes, a nice sum!

For the time being, we still don’t know what will happen to the incriminated cards, will they be destroyed? Also, at the moment, the authorities have not confirmed (or not) if the Chinese branch of XFX was directly responsible. However, the brand has already been involved in “shenanigans” in the past. Apparently, the brand’s entire offering was distributed directly to crypto miners rather than going through the retailer.

Meanwhile, the official website of the Chinese branch of the brand’s website was closed until now. Same thing for the official XFX store on jd.com if we are to believe VideoCardz.com.

Finally, according to MyDrivers this practice would not be so anecdotal as that in China. It is said that 150,000 cards have already crossed the border with a fraudulent label in order to reduce customs fees.
