On October 8, 2022, Watercool announced the introduction of a new range of more sustainable packaging. Based in Waren an der Müritz, the German brand has always been very concerned about its environmental impact. In its article it highlights the use of highly recyclable materials, but also very efficient machines. The only thing that was a problem was the packaging part using a lot of different packaging and a lot of plastic films and bubbles.
It is therefore in the spirit of reducing its environmental impact that the Watercool teams started to work on new packaging in the middle of the year. We particularly like this approach and it should be copied by all brands in the hardware industry.
In the improvement plans, we note that the objective was to ensure a good protection of the products. While reducing the volume of shipping and the proportion of foam and other plastics. Finally, the printing of the packaging has been reduced to a maximum, because yes we can just as easily read a black text on a raw cardboard as on a white background.
To conclude its article, Watercool announced that it now produces its own packaging in-house following major investments. The supply of the raw material (corrugated cardboard) is done in the region at Smurfit Kappa in Waren. This allows Watercool to produce even small series and to react more quickly.
A part of the Watercool products is already being shipped in the new packaging.
