A few weeks ago, AMD re-released its Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor in a 10th Anniversary edition. The goal here was to celebrate the AM4 platform’s 10th anniversary by re-releasing a flagship processor… So much so that it ranks ahead of the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, a newer and much more powerful model. But the AM4 platform is currently enjoying a resurgence in popularity, which explains its strong sales!

The Ryzen 7 5800X3D benefits from its DDR4 support!

It’s ahead of the Ryzen 7 7800X3D on Amazon US!

Of course, the processor’s success is tied to the current state of the memory market. As a reminder, the AI industry is absorbing a large portion of memory production, driving up DDR5 prices. Naturally, since AM5 processors are exclusively DDR5-compatible, the platform automatically becomes very expensive. But AMD continues to keep its AM4 platform compatible with DDR4, which allows it to offer a more affordable platform thanks to cheaper RAM.

It is in this context that the 5800X3D has sold nearly 3,000 units on Amazon US. In contrast, the 7800X3D has sold about 2,000 units and ranks fifth, just behind its AM4 predecessor. Yet both models are priced the same—it’s the cost of RAM that’s the deciding factor!

Not as successful in France!

Classement Ryzen 7 5800X3D

While success is assured in the United States, the situation is slightly different in France. Looking at the French market, the 5800X3D ranks seventh, while the 9800X3D and 7800X3D hold first and second place, respectively. Other AM4 models rank higher, such as the non-X 5600 (4th) and the 5500 (5th).

These differences can be attributed to variations in consumption patterns between Europeans and Americans.
