Even though 2024 is not yet over, estimates from Jon Peddie Research point to a record year for the GPU sector. In fact, by 2024, this sector alone should be worth some $100 billion!
$100 billion: the value of the GPU sector in 2024!
In concrete terms, while the year 2024 is not yet over, analysis firm Jon Peddie Research estimates the value of this market at some $98.5 billion. Of course, behind this colossal figure lies a large share attributed to artificial intelligence. NVIDIA GPUs developed for this sector alone can cost tens of thousands of dollars. The H100, for example, cost at least $40,000.
However, while NVIDI2A’s professional solutions are expensive products, we have learned that they only represent a relatively small volume compared to other sectors, even though NVIDIA ships entire cargo ships of graphics cards.
However, it is important to bear in mind that graphics chips are becoming increasingly common. Whether in telephones, PCs (obviously), televisions, games consoles, etc., they are everywhere. They’re everywhere. Of course, their power is adapted to the application, but all the same. All in all, they add up to a pretty penny.
In terms of figures, Tweaktown reports that NVIDIA alone accounts for some $90 billion (Blackwell is no stranger to this phenomenon), compared with $3 billion for AMD. The rest is split between the other GPU companies.
