Among the best gaming processors, we have the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, the goat, but also the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, older, especially it’s AM4 socket. However, the latter has apparently been discontinued by AMD, which explains its recent price increase, as we reported here.
AMD discontinues the Ryzen 7 5800X3D!
As a reminder, the 5800X3D is THE processor that really made the difference with Intel. In fact, the improvement in the amount of L3 cache memory made it a formidable opponent, especially in games… Especially as its power consumption was ridiculous. In short, it quickly gained in popularity, and even recently, it was an excellent choice for anyone who wanted to build a low-cost gaming machine. It has to be said that the Ryzen 7 7800X3D combo and AM5 motherboard are still expensive.
Unfortunately, the processor isn’t as available as it used to be, far from it. If you’re looking for it, you can still find it in a few shops, at high prices or via Amazon through a third-party reseller. In reality, the reason behind this is quite simple: AMD has simply discontinued its processor. As things stand, if you want a new X3D model in AM4, you’ve got no choice but to go for the Ryzen 7 5700X3D.
This choice is not surprising, however, if all goes well, we should see the Ryzen 7 9800X3D arrive very soon. So it’s time for the 5800X3D (released in April 2022) to bow out.
