It’s really starting to feel like a pattern. Super Micro is once again in the spotlight following a raid on its offices in Taiwan. The reason? The same as always: smuggling GPUs to China. It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time the company has drawn the authorities’ attention for smuggling. We covered this issue back in 2024, and just last March, the company’s co-founder was arrested in connection with this matter.
Raid on Super Micro’s Offices in Taiwan!
It’s always the same people, always the same reason:
Simply put, the company is under investigation by authorities for illegally smuggling NVIDIA GPUs into China. It’s worth noting that China is subject to U.S. sanctions aimed at preventing China’s military development using American technology. It was in this context that the company was caught for the first time in 2024, and the issue resurfaced in 2025, but clearly, this case continues to make headlines. At the same time, the company issued a press release stating:
“Super Micron products continue to be the focus of these cases, and we continue to cooperate with law enforcement and government authorities in Taiwan and other jurisdictions where we operate to ensure that our technologies are distributed in accordance with the law.”
$2.5 billion worth of chips shipped to China:
The damage here is significant, given the high value involved: $2.5 billion worth of GPUs shipped to China. In fact, following this, the company’s co-founder was arrested earlier in 2025. Following this arrest, the company’s stock price plummeted. As of June 2, 2026, the stock price has fallen by half and is currently trading around $28. In short, this is a scandal that continues to cause a stir and is likely to have a major impact on the company’s reputation.
