AMD makes official the prices and release date of its future Ryzen 9900X3D processors. Confirmation came from a brand representative. Indeed, on X.com, Jack Huynh, shared a post indicating the release date and prices of the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and Ryzen 9 9900X3D.

Ryzen 9900X3D: launch on March 12 at $599 and $699!

AMD Ryzen 9 9900X3DAs a reminder, AMD’s processor series is really split in two, with the X3D CPUs on one side and the others on the other. The special feature of these X3D models is the integration of 64 MB of additional cache via the addition of a matrix of 64 MB of additional L3 chache. In practice, CPUs equipped with this feature show a noticeable performance gain, especially in video games. At application level, it depends on the software used: if the latter is not sensitive to L3 cache, adding 3D V-Cache will not significantly improve performance.

In any case, the important thing to remember here is that the last two CPUs in the X3D series, the Ryzen 9950X3D and Ryzen 9900X3D, will arrive on March 12. As is often the case, the embargoes on testing will be lifted one day earlier: on March 11. As for prices, these are $599 for the 9900X3D and $699 for the 9950X3D.

As a reminder, these two CPUs feature 12- and 16-core processors. In terms of frequency, the 9950X3D is turbocharged to 5.7 GHz and the 9900X3D to 5.5 GHz. Despite the difference in cores, we’ll have the same amount of L3 cache: 128 MB (64 64 MB). The difference is in L2, which is present at 1 MB/core. Finally, you’ll need to opt for a rather solid cooling system, especially for the 9950X3D and its 170W TDP, where the 9900X3D is at 120W.

It remains to be seen whether these CPUs will remain at their recommended retail price for long. As we’ve seen with graphics cards, MSRPs are more likely to be launch promotions than anything else.
