The X3D processors are on the launch pad since some copies are already in the hands of testers. In fact, the HD Technologia leaked the reviewer’s guide of the Ryzen 9 7950X3D. If the results are not independent, plot twist, it is AMD who made them, they allow to get a first idea of the capabilities of the CPU.
Ryzen 9 7950X3D: up to 6% more powerful than a Core i9 13900K in game!
As a reminder, the 7950X3D is an AMD processor with a total of 16 cores and 32 threads. In boost, this model works up to 5.7 GHz while the TDP shows a value of 120W. Moreover, it is an interesting model because of its 128 MB L3 cache. The latter is doubled compared to the “basic” 7950X, which is a significant help in games..
By the way, speaking of gaming, you should know that AMD’s results show a 5.6% higher performance than the Core i9 13900K with an RX 7900 XT. If we change the graphics card to an RTX 4090, the performance gap increases to 6% in favor of AMD, still on the same panel of 22 games. Where AMD’s processor does well is on Horizon Zero Dawn (+26.6%). On the other hand, the game on which it does the worst is Counter Strike: Global Offensive (-9.23%). On the other hand, the 7950X is clearly in the sauce since its X3D counterpart shows +16% of perfs in game.
On the other hand, in 2D benchmarks, things are more complicated for AMD since the Core i9 13900K takes the lead. It is particularly marked on Cinebench R23 v2.0.0 where the CPU displays scores of 2040 pts/35924.18 pts(single/multi threads) against 2260.6 pts/36056.90 pts(single/multi threads) for Intel. Same on GeekBench v5.4.1 with singlecore and multicore scores of 2170.75 pts/23380 pts against 2262.73 pts/25569.36 pts for the Intel.
This is basically what to expect from AMD’s tests, it remains to be seen if the press will get fundamentally different results. In the meantime, this Ryzen 9 7950X3D is expected very soon at a price of $699. Next to that, the 7950X is currently available for $589.
