Sapphire has launched two new graphics cards, the RX 9070 XT Phantom Link(discussed here). In simple terms, these are cards whose power connector migrates directly into the extension of the card’s PCIe slot. In doing so, Sapphire adopts a design similar to ASUS’s BTF series. The boards are compatible with the ASUS ecosystem.
RX 9070 XT Phantom Link: cards with invisible connectors!
One in champagne, the other in white!
Sapphire’s cards come in two colors: a champagne-colored version, in line with the original RX 9070 XT Nitro+, and a white version called Polar. In both cases, we’re dealing with a bulky card whose cooling system features three fans, while the card occupies three slots in a PC case. As for length, we’re talking about over 30 cm, so be careful with your case.
No visible connectors!
Of course, the main attraction of these models is the absence of a 12V-2×6 connector. This is replaced by a GC-HPWR positioned in the PCIe extension of the card. Coupled with an X870EA Nitro+ Phantom Link, we have a complete ecosystem. Note that the connector on Sapphire boards is equivalent to that of ASUS and its BTF series. This means that Sapphire boards are not only compatible with their motherboards.
Prices :
In terms of retail prices, the cards are inevitably expensive, costing $989 for the classic 9070 XT Phantom Link and $999 for the white version. In contrast, the motherboards are priced at $399 for the classic X870EA Nitro+ Phantom Link and $419 for the white version. Here, the white color leads to a slight increase in sales prices… This is undoubtedly due to lower production volumes.
