At one point in time, when we talked about ‘reference’ cards, we often meant low-cost cards with a rather simplistic design. We remember AMD’s dreadful blowers on the R9 290 series in particular, which were particularly noisy, as you can see here. But times have changed, to the extent that cards using AMD and NVIDIA designs are quite good… When they come out, that is, as was not the case with the RX 9000, where no MBA card was released, at least not officially. In fact, in China, some models have appeared here and there, and an RX 9070 MBA was able to pass the test bench. So, how does this version fare?
RX 9070 MBA: not bad at all!
Once again, VideoCardz spotted the story via the ChipHell forum, where the results of a card were shared with the community. In fact, we find a rather clean card with an idle temperature maintained below 50°C as can be seen. This temperature is explained by the fact that the ventilation is cut off due to the semi-passive operation of the ventilation. The frequency, in these conditions, is particularly low at just 70 MHz… But the card is not under stress, so this is not surprising.
On Furmark, after an extended charge of just over 8 mins, the data changes. In fact, the card remains at a temperature of less than 70°C, with a reading of 67°C. As for the hotspot, we’re at 84°C. Clearly, this is far from catastrophic. On the other hand, we would have liked to have had a little feedback on the card’s noise levels, which are not reported here.
Finally, on Time Spy, the graphics score is close to 25,000 pts, with exactly 24,763 pts. Once again, the card behaves normally and delivers the performance it should.
