[Rumor] No high-end RDNA 4 GPU?

0

The following are currently only rumors, however, they remain consistent. According to @Kepler_L2 (who has already proven himself), it’s not impossible that AMD will scrap its high-end RDN 4 or RX 8000 cards. The aim would be to concentrate on the more buoyant mid-range sector!

RDN 4: no card in the high-end segment?

AMD Navi 4

So, according to the rumors, AMD would simply be content with the mid-range segment. There will be no Navi 41 chips, only Navi 44 and Navi 43 GPUs. In other words, the Reds will only be offering RX 8700/XT, RX 8600/XT or even RX 8800/XT, depending on how the range is organized. This brings us back to the days of the Polaris and Navi 1 GPUs. If you remember, with Polaris, we only had RX 480/580 and then 590. With Navi 1, the series only went up to the RX 5700 XT.

For the moment, based on rumors alone, we have the following scenario: AMD could then offer a series of RX 7000 refreshes incorporating 3D V-Cache memory. As for Navi 3.5, some claim that this generation will be reserved exclusively for integrated graphics on the brand’s future APUs. Finally, the next generation of cards will be limited to the mid-range sector.

It remains to be seen whether the Reds will be able to offer sufficient competition to NVIDIA and now Intel. Battlemage is scheduled to arrive in 2024.
