The RTX 50 Super series is making headlines again with an RTX 5080 Super that now appears in Seasonic’s power supply calculator. The card has a higher TDP than the non-Super version. This new addition suggests that NVIDIA hasn’t scrapped its series of cards, as had previously seemed to be the case. On the contrary, we learned in early June that the series could still be released in early 2027.

A 15% increase in TDP:
As a reminder, with this Super series, NVIDIA is reportedly planning to increase the memory capacity of its graphics cards. To do so, the company is said to be opting for newGDDR7 chips, with 3 GB models instead of the current 2 GB ones. Naturally, this would lead to increased power consumption and, consequently, more heat, due to the higher density of these chips and, potentially, higher clock speeds as well. This is why Seasonic’s calculator lists a TDP of 415W, whereas the non-Super 5080 had a maximum TDP of 360W.
A quick reminder of the rumored specifications:
In terms of specifications for this Super model, we expect NVIDIA to equip the card with a GB203-450GPU, which would feature the same number of CUDA cores as the original 5080: 10,752. While the GPU clock speeds are still unknown, the memory capacity could see a significant increase, going from 16 GB ofGDDR7 memory to 24 GB. Furthermore, there would be no changes to the interface, and it would still feature a 256-bit bus. Additionally, with a 6.6% increase in memory clock speeds, the bandwidth would rise from 960 GB/s to 1,024 GB/s.
Of course, the retail prices aren’t known yet, but we expect the price to go up due to the larger amount of VRAM installed on the card. The question remains: by how much?
