Clearly, the graphics card market is gradually abandoning 8 GB graphics cards. In fact, according to MindFactory’s sales figures, consumers are shunning the 8GB version of the 5060 Ti… In our opinion, there are several reasons for this: firstly, the fact that NVIDIA has not particularly promoted the card. Indeed, when it was launched, there were no day-one tests of this version. The few tests available were carried out by editors who had paid for their equipment, as no press kit was provided. This brings us to the second reason: performance. As we said in this article, although both variants feature the same GPUs, the halving of memory capacity has a major impact on the card’s performance. They may bear the same name, but the performance provided by the 8 GB version means that they’re not really the same model. Last but not least, there’s a smaller price difference than between the 16 and 8 GB RTX 4060 Ti. As a reminder, with the 4000 series, the price difference was $100, whereas it has been reduced to $50 with this generation. It’s understandable that consumers are more willing to make this small effort of $50, especially as the prices of the new generation are dropping. Of course, these are just the sales figures from a single retailer. All this information needs to be taken with a certain amount of hindsight.
