New driver from AMD: RADEON Software 23.8.1. This new version is aimed at Immortals of Aveum, adding support for the game. Otherwise, there are a few welcome fixes.
RADEON Software 23.8.1, support for Immortals of Aveum!
The main new feature of this driver is the addition of support for Electronic Arts’ latest title: Immortals of Aveum. Apart from that, there are no real new additions, so we can move on to the patches.
Among them, we’ll note that AMD is once again trying to improve the idle power consumption of its RX 7000 cards. But here are the details:
- Improvement of high idle power consumption by using high resolution, high refresh rate multi-display configurations with VRR enabled on RX 7000s. Further optimizations to reduce idle power consumption on other display configurations are in progress.
- Correction of performance drops on DirectX 11 games encountered with an RX 5600 XT with AMD SmartAccess Memory active.
- No more crashes or driver timeouts on Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart with Ray Tracing and Dynamic Resolution Scaling active on cards like the RX 7900 XTX.
- No more crashes or driver timeouts on Starcraft II with RX 7000s.
- AMD also corrects intermittent visual corruptions encountered on Rocket League when Bloom is set to “Off” on cards like the RX 6900 XT.
- Fixes performance drops encountered on various games with RADEON 700M Series.
We conclude with a few known AMD problems:
- The performance overlay may display ” N/A ” in the FPS box on some games.
- Audio/video desynchronization may occur when recording in AV1 via RADEON Software.
- The screen may not display the correct brightness on certain games with certain Samsung FreeSync Premium Pro displays or certain TVs when local dimming is active.
- Crashes or driver timeouts may be encountered on Baldur’s Gate 3 in DirectX 11 on some RX 7000s.
