Asus is not to be outdone, with a Maximus Z790 Dark Hero or a TUF Gaming Z790-Pro Wi-Fi. Just recently, we discovered that a Z790 Apex Encore seemed to be in the pipeline, while today it’s the Maximus Z790 Formula that’s showing its face!

At Asus, there hasn’t been a Formula since Intel’s Z690 chipset, which saw the light of day with Alder Lake processors. Indeed, the Taiwanese company has not offered a model of this type with Raptor Lake… But it will with Raptor Lake Refresh.
As usual, the company is promoting an ATX-format board. The company is banking on an advanced cooling system for its VRMs… And with good reason: we’re talking about a watercooling system that can be recognized by its input and output ports. However, we hope that the block will be made of nickel-plated copper and not nickel-plated aluminum, as was the case with the Maximus Z690 Formula. This will prevent corrosion problems!
Apart from that, the design is beautifully crafted, with white heat sinks and shield. ROG logos can be seen everywhere, while the card features buttons integrated directly into the casing. In short, this model looks particularly well cared for. It remains to be seen how much it will cost. But from memory, don’t expect a cheap reference!
