Samsung announces its Odyssey G80SD. This is a high-end monitor with an OLED panel. As well as being designed for PC use, it also features a SmartTV function!
Odyssey G80SD: Samsung’s new high-end monitor!
The program features a rather imposing reference equipped with a 32″ OLED panel. In terms of resolution, this is a UHD monitor with 3840×2160 resolution, and a highly responsive 240 Hz refresh rate with 0.03 ms gray-to-gray latency.
Otherwise, we find a 10-bit display and 99% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut. The OLED panel also boasts a high contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1. Finally, according to our colleague, although brightness is not specified, it should easily reach 1,000 nits.
The screen is equipped with a stand that can be adjusted in all directions. Connectivity features include a DisplayPort 1.4a connector and two HDMI 2.1 connectors, as well as a headphone jack and two USB 3.0 ports.
This monitor also benefits from SmartTV functionality, enabling it to access VOD services without switching on the PC.
Pricing is currently 11,079 yuan, or around €1,420 after conversion. Beware, however, as the bill may well rise when it arrives in Europe.
