NVIDIA would have stopped the production of its RTX 4090

The info is coming from China. NVIDIA would have stopped the production of its new high-end GPU, the RTX 4090. This stop of the production would be temporary but would be already manifested by numerous breakages within the retailers. The goal of Nvidia would be to increase the production of their professional GPU, the NVIDIA H100. Indeed, if the rumor was true, it would clearly be more profitable for Nvidia to devote more wafers to produce a product whose price and margin are much higher.

RTX 4090 stopped: the embargo on AI chips would be the cause?

The explanation is therefore the profitability but also the sanctions that hit China. The United States has announced an embargo on a number of strategic products. Products related to AI and computing power are concerned and more specifically for Nvidia the A100 and H100 . These products are the result of a long development and provide significant profit margins to the green. The H100 would be traded above $35,000. But the subtlety in this case is very simple to understand. If the embargo is formal for Nvidia, a way out has been opened. The company has a deadline (until September 2023) to honor all orders signed before the official embargo. The Greens have launched a race against time with the help of TSMC to deliver a maximum of these highly profitable chips. A strategy that forces them to make choices in terms of production.

Of course, this hypothesis is not officially confirmed by Nvidia. However, it should be noted that in Europe as well as in North America, the availability of the RTX 4090 is almost nil… A situation we never thought we would not see again.
