No Forspoken for the RX 400 and RX 500!

After having been a victim of their success when Ether mining was on the rise, the RX 400 and RX 500 are now in trouble. Indeed, these cards can’t run the Forspoken game because of an API compatibility issue.

The RX 400 and RX 500 are not DirectX 12_1 compatible!

AMD Radeon RX 480It is via Reddit that we learn that the RX 400 and RX 500 from AMD simply can not run the title Forspoken. Indeed, the cards from these series are simply not compatible with the right level ofAPI used in the game. As a reminder, they are DirectX 12 compatible, but only with level 12_0 features. Since the game uses features from level 12_1, these models simply cannot run the title.

The most ironic thing is that older cards can run it. In this case, we’re thinking of the GTX 900s that were launched in 2014 in particular. For the record, cards based on Polaris GPUs, such as the RX 480, were seeing the light of day in 2016. Next to that, the RX 580 were launched in 2017 against 2018 for the RX 590.

Finally, via TechpowerUp we learn that AMD would work on a driver. The latter would contain, in particular, optimizations for Forspoken for its RX Vega, RX 5000 and RX 6000. We should also point out that the last drivers of the brand concerned the RX 7000.
