Minisforum is at it again, offering a mini-ITX motherboard with a Ryzen mobile soldered to it. The brand has already offered a similar solution with a Ryzen 9 8945HS, but this time it’s the Ryzen 9 7945HX3D. What’s more, the card uses standard connectors, so you can use this solution with ‘everyday’ components!
Ryzen 9 7945HX3D: a soldered CPU on an ITX Minisforum motherboard!
With this package, called BD790i X3D, the brand is offering us a motherboard in mini-ITX format. It comes in the classic 17×17 cm format and has a mobile processor soldered onto it. The CPU in question is none other than the Ryzen 7 7945HX3D, a model with 16 Zen4 cores and 32 threads. Here, the CPU uses 3D V-Cache memory to boost its performance, and boosts its frequency to 5.4 GHz.
As for the rest of the connectivity, the motherboard has a PCIe 5.0 x16 slot coupled with two vertical DDR5 SO-DIMM memory slots. The board can handle up to 96 GB of memory running at 5200 MT/s. As for storage, there are two M.2 slots with a PCIe 5.0 x4 interface. By default, these slots benefit from an active cooling system. The heatsink is equipped with a fan.
And while we’re on the subject, there’s also a radiator already fitted to the CPU. The latter is also compatible with a 120 mm fan, which leaves plenty of choice.
Finally, as far as the power supply is concerned, we find standard ATX connectors here. The 24-pin ATX is present, as is a single 8-pin ESP12V CPU . This makes the card compatible with conventional PC power supplies.
Finally, at the rear, we find sufficient connectivity featuring four USB-A (3.2 Gen1 x2 2x 2.0), one USB-C (3.2 Gen2). HDMI and DisplayPort video outputs are present to exploit the CPU ‘s RADEON 610M iGPU , while there’s WiFi 6E, Ethernet 2.5 GbE and audio sockets.
For the price, expect to pay €679 direct from the brand’s website.
