Kingston now offers the successor to its famous NV2 SSD range. With the NV3 series, the company continues to offer affordable models in a wide range of capacities. However, performance has been taken up a notch!
NV3: entry-level SSDs with improved performance!
The brand continues to offer M.2 format SSDs with a PCIe 4.0 x4 interface. However, the brand doesn’t clearly indicate which controller or memory is at work. Let’s hope it’s not the same mess as the NV2 series, which used different memory configurations and controllers.
In any case, we should find storage capacities of 500 GB, 1 TB, 2 TB and 4 TB.
Data transfer rates are also on the rise. At maximum, the series displays 6 GB/s in sequential read mode, compared with 5 GB/s in sequential write mode. Compared with the 3.5 GB/s – 2.8 GB/s of the NV2 series, data rates are almost doubled.
As for endurance, we have :
- 500 GB: 160 TB
- 1 TB: 320 TB
- 2 TB : 640 TB
- 4 TB : 1280 TB
No change here.
In terms of price, the 500 GB model will cost around $50, compared with $70 per TB. Lastly, the 2TB version is said to cost $139, while the 4TB version has no price yet, as it’s due to arrive in the fourth quarter!
