K1 Ultra Low-Profile: a new keyboard from Keychron!
A TKL model!
With this keyboard, we’re seeing a model in theTKL format… This means the numeric keypad has been removed, with the goal of saving space on your desk while retaining the navigation keys and arrow keys. In fact, the dimensions are 358.6 (W) x 128.3 (D) mm, with a height ranging from 20 to 25.5 mm.
Internally, this model features 1 MB of flash memory for storing your settings and macros. It also has a polling rate of 8,000 Hz. Several layers of sound insulation are included to optimize the acoustics of this model.
The switches are low-profile, allowing for very short actuation distances ranging from 1.3 mm (linear) to 1.7 mm (tactile), depending on the switch type. In fact, the brand offers a choice between a 45-gram linear red switch and two tactile switches rated at 50 and 57 grams. The total travel is 3.1 mm. If the default configuration doesn’t suit you, you can replace the switches, as they are hot-swappable.
With this keyboard, you can count on high-quality materials, such as a metal frame or wooden side panels. The keys are made of dual-injection PBT, so the lettering won’t fade over time.
Since this is a wireless keyboard, it features both Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz modes. In either case, battery life can reach up to 490 hours with a polling rate of 8,000 Hz and RGB lighting turned off.
It’s not even that expensive:
Finally, the price comes as a real surprise, as it’s listed at $109.99 on the brand’s website. Here, your choice of switches won’t affect the final price.
