Is the MSI MPOWER series about to be resurrected?

Could this be the good surprise of the weekend? The return of MSI’s “MPOWER” series? According to our colleagues at Videocardz via Wccftech, MSI is about to resurrect this series, which came to a halt with the Z170/Z270 chipset. It’s a pity that, back then, MSI had already abandoned the original black and yellow color code, opting instead for a mix of gray and silver-gray.

It’s surprising that MSI didn’t take advantage of CES 2024 to announce this comeback. This new MSI MPOWER motherboard, built around the Z790 chipset, will be in micro-ATX format, with two memory slots and two PCIe ports. This series has always been aimed at overclocking, as confirmed by the numerous markings on the board: “Overclock”, “Frequency”, “MHz”, “Voltage” and “Clock”. The PCN features a 15-phase power stage and support for DDR5 memory up to 8000 MHz.

Has MSI understood that the winning combo is to offer overclockers a no-frills card at an attractive price, since our colleagues are talking about a $229 price tag? Let’s hope this card isn’t dedicated to just one market, but that we’ll also see it land in Europe. In short, we can’t wait to find out more.
