Intel’s 13th generation mobile platform will be a little difficult to read. It will be composed of two high performance lines: The 13th generation mobile platform of Intel will be composed of two high performance lines: The Raptor Lake-HK (45 W) and the Raptor Lake-HX (55 W). The first will not be a real novelty since we will actually have a refresh of Alder Lake-H with up to 6 cores P “Golden Cove” (1 MB L2 / core) and 8 cores E “Gracemont”. The performance “P” cores will go up to 5.4 GHz with an overall base TDP of 45W. The Raptor Lake-HX line will be more interesting with a monstrous Core i9-13980HX at the top. This range will be very clearly close to desktop CPUs with a base power of 55 W. We already know the Core i9-13900HX, Core i7-13700HX, Core i5-13xx0HX and Core i3-13450HX. These processors are actually derivatives of Core i9-13900K, Core i7-13700K, Core i5-13600K, 13500 and 13400. The Core i9-13980HX will be a better-binned 13900HX with the same core and cache configuration. A kind of “KS” version for laptops.
Core i9-13980HX also ahead of the next AMD?
Compared to its big brother of the 12th generation, this i9-13980HX will have double the L2 cache per core P and double the number of cores E. A final configuration with 24 cores, 32 threads. Finally, in terms of frequencies, the Core i9-13980HX will have a boost to 600 MHz more than its predecessors the Core i9-12950HX and Core i9-12900HX.
This chip will obviously be integrated in very premium configurations. The whole range will be positioned in front of the future Dragon Range of AMD and its flagship model also seems, on paper, promised to check the top of the range of reds …
