Gigabyte unveils its Z790 X motherboards!

Gigabyte announces its new Z790 X motherboard series. As a reminder, Intel will soon be launching its 14th-generation processors, and a series of boards is needed to support them. Gigabyte will be offering new boards – 8 of them! We’d also like to thank Wccftech for sharing the details.

Z790 X, what’s new at Gigabyte?

Gigabyte Z790 C OC mémoire

If we are to believe the brand, it has worked hard to improve its boards. The new memory OC features (already present on Z690 and Z790) with different options are worth mentioning:

  • DDR5 Auto Booster: boosts native DDR5 5600 MT/s to 6000 MT/s
  • DDR5 XMP Booster: boosts DDR5 modules to the highest profile (up to 8266 MT/s)
  • High-Bandwidth Mode: increases DDR5 bandwidth, which is equivalent to boosting frequencies.
  • Low-Latency Mode: shortens latencies.

Otherwise, we learn that the brand’s boards feature a new six- to ten-layer “server-quality” PCB. This reduces signal loss, which comes in handy when overclocking. Finally, the memory tracks have also been given a polish. The Aorus Xtreme X holds DDR5 at 8266 MT/s without errors.

Of course, new cooling options have also been introduced. We’re talking about larger VRM heatsinks with thermal pads of up to 12 W/mK. The same goes for M.2 cooling systems with aluminum fins and heat pipes. Gigabyte reports temperatures of up to 50°C on the fastest PCIe 5.0 SSDs. Even the I/O Shield features vents drilled into the backplate, which are said to reduce temperatures by 7°C.

Quality of life ” or DIY improvements:

Here, we’re talking about small improvements that make it easier to assemble/dismantle the PC. In fact, the brand offers screwless M.2 mounting/dissipator systems, as well as larger, easier-to-reach PCIe levers.

Similarly, PCIe, M.2 and memory connectors have been strengthened. As for RAM, we’re talking about 5,000 installations/deinstallations. What’s more, in order to improve temperatures, there’s an integral backplate offering a 10% reduction in temperature. Why not?

As for the bios, it will now be possible to select nine “advanced” options and integrate them into the Easy mode section.

New connectivity :

Connectivity has also been upgraded to WiFi 7 with speeds of 5.8 Gbps.

The brand’s biggest motherboards also feature 10 GbE Ethernet via Marvell AQtion chips. This applies to the Z790 Xtreme X and Master X. Other boards will have to make do with 2.5 GbE Ethernet.

Last but not least, Thunderbolt 4 is present in the form of two connectors. These will be capable of delivering 40 Gbps.

Pricing:

Well, what really hurts are the sales prices. The Z790 Aorus XTreme X will retail at $999.99, compared with $549.99 for the Aorus Master X. Then we have the Aorus Pro X and Elite X WiFi7 at $389.99 and $289.99 respectively. Finally, we end with the Z790 Aorus Elite X AX at $279.99.

For the moment, prices for the Tachyon X, queen of overclocking, and the Elite X and B760M Aorus Elite X AX are not known.

It’s important to point out that not all the features presented here will be available on all motherboards – far from it, see above.
