We’re heading for a game we never thought we’d hear about: Euro Truck Simulator 2. Indeed, the trucking simulator has seen its minimum and recommended configurations revised upwards. Remember that the title was released in 2012, and that the game still attracts over 30,000 players every day!

Euro Truck Simulator 2: higher PC requirements!

SCS Software, the studio behind ETS2, is updating the recommended configurations for its game. The aim is to display more recent hardware, more readily available on the market. What’s more, we imagine that the company is planning further graphical enhancements and the addition of new features in the future, as requirements increase.

Euro Truck Simulator 2 config

The new minimum configuration shows :

  • CPU: Intel Core i5 5400 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200
  • RAM: 8 GB
  • Graphics card: GeForce GTX 660 or AMD RX 460 or Intel HD 630

Previously, the minimum configuration was based on hardware no longer available on the market. In fact, it mentions an old dual-core processor running at 2.4 GHz. For graphics, an old GTS 450 was required, while 4 GB of RAM was enough to run the game.

As for the recommended configuration, we now find :

  • CPU: Intel Core i5 9600 or Ryzen 5 3600
  • RAM: 12 GB
  • Graphics card: GeForce 1660 or AMD RX 590
  • Storage: 25 GB SSD

The recommended configuration is more violent, especially when you see what you’re starting with. Previously, a simple 3 GHz quad core was sufficient, whereas now a six-core processor is required. As for graphics, the studio recommends GTX 1660 and RX 590 where we had a GTX 760 in the past. As for storage, an SSD is now recommended, especially as the weight of the game doubles: 25 GB versus 12 GB. However, with the updates, it’s easy to understand why the game’s weight has increased.

The question now arises as to what further improvements are needed to bring about such a major upgrade in configurations. Towards ETS2 with path tracing?
