MSI announces its AI mini-computer, the EdgeXpert. The EdgeXpert boasts a solid configuration for targeted AI needs. In fact, this mini-machine boasts 1000 AITOPS of power in this field, a far cry from the biggest NPUs, whose power painfully exceeds the 45 AITOPS required for Copilot certification .
EdgeXpert: 1000 AITOPS of power in a 1.3l chassis!
With this mini-computer, MSI offers us a truly compact reference, mounted in a chassis measuring 151 mm on each side and 57 mm in height. But that’s more than enough space to install a configuration based on ARM processors and Blackwell GPUs. In terms of processors, the configuration boasts a total of 20 cores, mixing Cortex-X927 and Corex-A725, a hybrid configuration combining high-performance and efficient cores.
In terms of memory, we’re talking about a total of 128 GB of LPDDR5X RAM, while the storage section features 1 and 4 TB SSD configurations. The 4TB configuration is aimed more at developers looking to manipulate large volumes of data or train models.
But the real strength of this machine lies in its ability to handle workloads in this area. Indeed, thanks to the Blackwell GPU, computing power in this field reaches 1000 AITOPS. This means that LLMs with 200 billion parameters can be run locally. But it’s also possible to connect two EdgeXpert units together via an NVLink link to boost the system’s power and handle LLMs with 405 billion parameters.
As for connectivity, this machine features an HDMI output coupled with a 10 GbE Ethernet socket. Finally, there are four USB-C 3.2 ports.
Of course, we’re curious about the retail price of this solution. But one thing’s for sure: AI is on a roll!
