NVIDIA’s new graphics card connector will have given many people a hard time… Particularly when it comes to adapters, as we remember from cablemod’s unsuccessful attempt. However, Corsair seems to be getting away with it. In fact, we had no negative feedback from the first model. Confident, the company is teasing a second version!
12V-2×6: a new adapter from Corsair!
As you can see, it’s obviously direct from the manufacturer’s website. For now, we’ll have to make do with visuals and a little ” coming soon “. Unfortunately, we don’t yet have the technical specifications. Perhaps we’ll have more information about it at CES.
In the meantime, it seems that the brand is opting for a 180° design, as with its first model. Here, we expect the brand to use a 12V-2×6 connector rather than the original 12VHPWR. The latter was introduced to improve connector security. The first version had a tendency to ” catch fire “. For this, we have to rely on readjustments to the dimensions of the connector pins.
Otherwise, as we can see, we’ll have the right to two colours with an adapter offered in black or white. The latter would feature a Corsair logo and a texture similar to that found on the brand’s latest 3500 cases. Finally, there are two ‘pipes’ on either side of the X-shaped adapter. Whether these are structural or purely aesthetic remains to be seen.
In short, this type of adapter can be very useful, especially in the case of the 12V-2×6. Remember that, because of the high power it can carry, you can’t fold it up as you please. However, as graphics cards tend to get bigger and bigger, the space available in cases is shrinking.
