The Colorful brand has a bit of a sense of humour, as the company has just announced Shadow RAM in black and white… although, literally, ‘Colorful’ means ‘full of colour’. Anyway, beyond that, the brand is unveiling memory kits equipped with Hynix A-Die chips with frequencies of 6000 MT/s and a CL28.
Shadow: low-latency memory from Colorful!
The brand is clearly inspired by Lexar… Or is it the other way round, or have the two come up with the same idea at the same time? Whatever the case, what we’ll be focusing on here are the low latencies displayed by these memory kits. We’re talking about 2x16GB kits running at 6000 MT/s CL28 and 6800 MT/s CL32. Need more RAM? No problem, the brand also offers a 2×24 GB kit running at 6800 MT/s with a CL34. However, unlike the two previous kits, this one will use SK Hynix M-Die and not A-Die.
With this, we also find 2×24 GB configurations running at 8000 MT/s with a CL40 and 8400 MT/s with a CL42. However, these two kits are for Z890 platforms only. Here, too, we are dealing with M-Die memory from Hynix.
Finally, we are aware of one last 6400 MT/s memory kit in CL28. It remains to be seen whether this is a standard capacity or 24/48 GB.
In any case, this is a memory kit with a design that we think is a real success. In fact, the heatsink is white with a hint of black, similar to Indian ink. In short, it’s a real eye-catcher, at least for us. It should also be remembered that these are non-RGB RAMs, measuring 47 mm in height (watch out for CPU cooler fans). What’s more, this series was already the talk of the town when it was announced for the 10,000 MT/s frequencies it achieved.
