[CES2025] ASUS presents its AMD RX 9000 TUF and Prime!

While AMD’s conference was disappointing to say the least – at least, if you were waiting for the announcement of new cards and performance figures – ASUS took the opportunity to unveil the design of its future RX 9000 TUF and Prime. Once again, no detailed specifications, or anything else, but we’ve got some visuals at least!

RX 9000: ASUS unveils its TUF and Prime series!

With this generation of graphics cards, AMD is not planning to compete with the RTX 5090 or RTX 5080 as the company had announced. However, the company seems determined to titillate NVIDIA all the way up to the RTX 5070 Ti, if their new nomenclature is anything to go by. To this end, the brand will be offering its RX 9070 XT and RX 9070.

ASUS RX 9000 Prime & TUF

As for ASUS, the brand is unveiling its TUF and Prime models, which are well-known series if you follow the brand closely… Or not.

In any case, with the TUF model, we’ll remember that the card benefits from the series’ distinctive, almost military look. Here, we’re dealing with a massive model with a fairing featuring metal elements screwed directly onto the shell. Of course, there’s a touch of RGB on the edge of the card, with an illuminated logo. Of course, we’re also entitled to a few reminders of the series on the shell, as well as a RADEON logo on the edge.

However, we have noticed that this custom model features a total of three 8-pin PCIe power connectors. ASUS is therefore going all out for a card whose power consumption should be lower than that of an RX 7900 XT, which has just two power connectors.

On the other hand, we find the more compact Prime series, which should occupy a little more than two slots in a PC. There’s no RGB here, just white/grey piping painted directly onto the card. What more can we say except that its heatsink incorporates three fans?
