Biostar launches an X870E Valkyrie!

When it comes to X870E motherboards, Biostar, a rather discreet manufacturer in Europe, has just announced its flagship. The brand has announced its X870E Valkyrie, a model that doesn’t have all the quality-of-life features of the competition!

This board is an ATX-format model with an AM5 socket and X870E chipset. The board is therefore ready for Ryzen 9000s, as well as current-generation Ryzen 7000s.

In terms of connectivity, we’ve got everything we need, with two PCIe 5.0 x16 (x8/x8 operation) coupled with one PCIe 4.0 x16 (x8 operation). On the memory side, the brand announces support for up to 192 GB of DDR5 running at up to 8000 MT/s. Finally, on the storage side, we find four M.2s, one of which runs in PCIe 5.0 x4, the others running in PCIe 4.0 x4. Last but not least, six SATA IIIs round off the list.

However, the card does not benefit from the same level of functionality as the competition. We’re thinking of the easy removal button for the graphics card, or the tool-free installation of M.2 SSDs. Here, you’ll need a screwdriver to remove the M.2 heatsinks.

On the CPU power supply side, we find a total of 18 2 2-phase 110A power supplies. While we’re not at the level of an MSI Godlike, it’s still perfectly acceptable. However, the network section is disappointing, with only a 2.5 GbE Realtek Ethernet chip. On the audio side, we have an ALC1220 in 7.1.

In short, as we can see, the card doesn’t benefit from the same level of equipment as the competition. It remains to be seen what the retail price of this model will be.
