At Colorful, we’d like to highlight the silent launch of a new motherboard for AMD processors. Indeed, the brand lists the Battle-AX B850M-E on its website. Clearly, we’re dealing with an entry-level board that gets straight to the point. It offers only the bare essentials for setting up a configuration.
Battle-AX B850M-E: an entry-level AMD card!
As we can see, the visual appearance of this board is truly minimalist. Indeed, apart from the presence of a few gray/white patterns on the PCB, the board offers no frills. For example, there’s no heatsink on the VRMs afterwards, the I/O shield plate is absent here, while the M.2 SSDs are “bare”. In short, nothing but cost-cutting measures!
As for connectivity, there are two DDR5 memory slots capable of holding a total of 96 GB of RAM, all at 7600 MT/s. In terms of storage, we have two M.2 slots, one of which is PCIe 5.0 x4, as opposed to a PCIe 4.0 x4 interface for the second. What’s more, the absence of an integrated heatsink means you’ll have to turn to retail models! Finally, the PCIe section features a reinforced x16 4.0 connector, versus a x4 4.0 connector for the second PCIe.
Rear connectivity is equally simplistic, with six USBs, HDMI and DisplayPort video outputs, and a PS2-style keyboard/mouse combo. Networking is handled by a 1 GbE Ethernet RTL8111K chip, while audio is handled by an ALC897 with 5.1 sound management.
For the moment, we don’t yet know the retail price of this model, but it shouldn’t go very high considering what’s on offer here.
