As for ASUS, the company has announced new graphics cards: the RX 9070 GRE Prime and Prime Evo. Both cards are similar in terms of clock speeds, but feature slight differences in size and cooling system design. In any case, we’re glad that AMD has lifted the regional restrictions surrounding the RX 9070 GRE. Now, in Europe too, we can enjoy this 12GB model!
RX 9070 GRE Prime: the two versions from ASUS!
The Prime Evo, slightly simpler and more compact:
Broadly speaking, both cards share a similar design. In practice, we have a card featuring a black shroud with a rounded edge on top. A Prime logo is molded directly into the plastic shell, while gray accents run along the card, featuring ASUS and RADEON logos.
But it’s the dimensions that set the two models apart. The “original” Prime remains slightly bulkier than the EVO version. This translates to dimensions of 312 (W) x 130 (H) x 50 (D) mm. In contrast, the EVO measures 304 (W) x 126 (D) x 50 (H) mm. Additionally, the cooling system differs slightly between the two models, as the EVO version does not feature “MaxContact technology.” Essentially, this is an additional process designed to improve contact between the heatsink base and the GPU/VRAM.
Same clock speeds!
While the EVO version is billed as a simpler and more compact card, both models still feature the same operating frequencies. Thus, we find GPUs with factory-overclocked boost frequencies, with the spec sheet listing 2880 MHz. Compared to AMD’s reference frequencies, this represents a 90 MHz increase. The same goes for the typical in-game frequency, which is 2300 MHz—an average increase of 80 MHz. Additionally, there are no changes regarding the memory.
The Prime version is already on sale!
As for pricing, the base model is already available for around €620. It may reach €655 depending on the retailer. Due to its compact size and simpler cooling system, we expect the EVO version to be slightly more affordable. The question remains: by how much?
