Asus RTX 4090 Matrix breaks the 4 GHz barrier!

We continue with the news of a new world record… Well, two, to be precise. Splave has been playing around with his Asus RTX 4090 Matrix. In fact, the overclocker pushed his card to some 4005 MHz, which is an absolute frequency record for a graphics card. As an added bonus, he also set a new record on GPUPI.

GPU frequency world record: 4 GHz on an RTX 4090 Matrix!

RTX 4090 Matrix overclocking 4 GHz

Asus’ Matrix series is optimized for overclocking. Clearly, the 4090 of the same name is no exception to the rule: in Splave’s expert hands, the card reached 4005 MHz in the benchmark. This frequency was reached on GPUPI 3.3.3 (32B/1B).

Of course, to reach such a frequency, we had to get our hands dirty. To achieve this, the clocker used a special bios to overcome certain restrictions, notably the power consumption limit. It’s not specified, but it would have been interesting to see how much power an RTX 4090 running at 4 GHz consumes!

Obviously, to reach these frequencies, efficient cooling is required, and liquid nitrogen was used for this. This helped keep the GPU at sub-zero temperatures: -34.6°C on the GPU.

In short, a double big GG to Splave for this feat, which set a new world record for GPU frequency. Incidentally, with a score of 45 secs and 402 ms, he also set the record on GPUPI in the ” 1x GPU ” and “RTX 4090” categories.
