The launch of the RTX 50s has been chaotic, not to say a failure. Between constant stock-outs, high prices and various other problems, we can’t say that these factors make people want to buy. On top of that, some manufacturers are cheating the system set up by NVIDIA. To pass on non-MSRP cards on D-Day, they apply low prices that miraculously rise the following week. That’s what ASUS was doing with its Prime models!
ASUS Prime cards whose prices mysteriously rise the following week!
For some time now, NVIDIA cards have been launched in two stages. The so-called ‘ MSRP ‘ cards, the models respecting the official price, benefit from a small advantage. The embargo on these cards is lifted one day before the premium cards, allowing these models to be put forward. However, some manufacturers, such as ASUS, have found a way of promoting more cards. To do this, they apply a low launch price, which allows them to gain media coverage and then the price increases.
As VideoCardz points out, this is a vicious system because it deceives consumers and testers alike. Indeed, when we type in our conclusion, we base it on the elements in our possession at the time. If we are told that a particular card is being sold at a particular price, our conclusion is based on that. However, if prices change the following week, the conclusion may no longer be the same. As a result, some products may end up being praised when they perhaps don’t deserve to be. And as we told you here, the RTX 5080 Prime saw its price rise some time after its introduction to the market.
In short, for the launch of the RTX 5070 Ti, which is due to take place tomorrow, we can’t expect the official price of €884 to be widely respected, with early MSI listings also pointing in that direction. NVIDIA will not be offering a Founders Edition, and its partners don’t seem to want to offer many MSRP cards. What’s more, the same variable price scenario is likely to apply to this GPU, so watch out.
