ASRock presents a new B650M PG Lightning motherboard. In fact, we’re dealing with a totally streamlined micro-ATX model, all with a view to reducing costs!

B650M PG Lightning, a streamlined board!

ASRock B550M PG LightningWith this model, ASRock offers a reference in micro-ATX format. As you can see, it’s relatively uncluttered. Indeed, compared to higher-end models, it clearly lacks a heatsink, I/O cache or even a pre-installed I/O cache.

Otherwise, an AM5 socket and a B650 chipset will be used, although the latter will not support PCIe Gen5 for the graphics card, which will run in a 4.0 x16 slot. However, the first M.2 slot below the socket will operate in PCIe 5.0 x4. This will be complemented by two further M.2 slots in PCIe 4.0 x4 and four SATA III slots.

Memory is provided by four DDR5 slots for up to 192 GB. As for frequency, 7200 MT/s memory will be supported.

Last but not least, a number of USB ports of all kinds can be found at the rear. The audio part, however, is managed by a Realtek ALC897 chip, while the network benefits from the Dragon RTL8125BG in 2.5 GbE.

Availability is scheduled for December 1. The price is expected to be around €150.
