W790 WS R2.0: a new workstation motherboard from ASRock!
With its new motherboard, ASRock offers a reference in E-ATX format. It features an impressive LGA-4677 socket and a W790 chipset.
Connectivity is also important, with eight memory slots for RAM. Up to 2TB of DDR5 running at 6800 MT/s can be installed, depending on the processor you install.
The PCIe section is also very complete, with a total of five x16 5.0 slots, completed by one x16 4.0 slot. If you install a graphics card in each slot, they will operate as follows: x8/x8/x8/x8.
As for storage, once again we’ve got what it takes, with a total of eight SATA IIIs. For M.2s, there are four M.2s in PCIe 5.0 x4, complemented by a U.2 also supporting PCIe 4.0 x4.
To power the CPU with dignity, ASRock has opted for a total of 20 2-phase power supplies. These benefit from Nichicon 12K Black capacitors and Renesas 90A SPSs. All these components are mounted on a 14-layer server-grade PCB.
Finally, on the rear, connectivity remains simple, but there’s still 10 GbE Ethernet via a Marvel Aquantia chip. Otherwise, 2.5 GbE Ethernet is also available, with support for Intel vPro technology.
