Gigabyte is also present in the extreme overclocking sector with a series of dedicated motherboards. The company offers its Tachyon models, boards with unusual layouts that integrate all the functions needed to push components to the maximum. While up until now the brand has concentrated mainly on Intel models, an AMD version, the X870 Tachyon, was spotted last January. We had to wait until Computex for a launch window within the next month or two.

X870 Tachyon: launch in one to two months!

X870 Tachyon IceComputex is when G.Skill organizes its overclocking competition, the OC World Cup. This year, Gigabyte sent a team, including HiCookie, which is involved in the development of Tachyon boards. Naturally, this was the right moment to ask him a few questions about this model and, in particular, its launch date. In all likelihood, the launch isn’t far off, as he indicated a window of one to two months. Logically, by the end of July, the card should be here… if all goes well. Now, the card itself remains a model designed for extreme overclocking. So expect to see a card equipped with two DDR5 DIMM slots, an AM5 socket and an X870e chipset. Of course, all the practical features will be present. We’re thinking in particular of the whole panoply of buttons for coefficient or BCLK adjustments directly integrated on the board, LED debugs and DIP switches in all directions… The other big question concerns price: will you have to overclock your credit card to afford one? That’s the question, since this type of component isn’t often cheap!
