In the world of overclocking, we have the FatBoyNotSoSlim clocker who’s been in the news lately. The Australian, equipped with a Gigabyte motherboard not yet on the market, is showing off his OC skills with a Ryzen 9950X. He pushed his processor to 6.3 GHz on a Gigabyte X870 Aorus Tachyon Ice. In the process, it hits some interesting scores!
Ryzen 9 9950X X870 Aorus Tachyon Ice = interesting scores!
Clearly, the X870 Aorus Tachyon Ice is an XOC motherboard produced by Gigabyte. The board is designed for extreme overclocking and offers all the features you need to get the most out of your processor or RAM.
Be that as it may, the clocker comes to titillate its competitors on a whole series of benchmarks. These include a score of 22,828 marks on 3DMark CPU Profile Max and 32,407 pts on GeekBench 5. In total, he submitted 22 scores, with a majority of second places for his Ryzen 9 9950X… But on Geekbench 4 single core, it’s the first place that falls with a nice score of 11,535 pts.
Of course, depending on the test, the processor clocked more or less. On SuperPi 1M, where it took second place (6s 628 ms), its CPU was running at 6.3 GHz compared with 6.2 GHz on GeekBench 4 single core. At maximum, he ran his CPU at 6694.8 MHz (2c/4t) on its attempt to achieve maximum frequency. In any case, cooling was provided by liquid nitrogen. On the RAM side, we find a pair of Fury Renegade DDR5s with a displayed frequency of 8000 MT/s, notably on Geekbench 4.
In short, from the looks of this demonstration, Gigabyte’s card promises to be particularly playful when overclocking, and that’s all to the good, given that the brand has designed it with this in mind. As a first release, the card will have performed well, but it remains to be seen how far it will go as the bios are updated.
