AMD has inadvertently revealed the existence of a new Ryzen 9000 processor equipped with 3D V-Cache memory. This time, we turn to the Reds’ mid-range offering with the Ryzen 5 9600X3D, which appeared on the support page for the brand’s RADEON Pro AI 9700. In short, if we extrapolate a little, we can already draw the outlines of what this future model will be!
Ryzen 5 9600X3D: what to expect?
With this processor, we should find a processor whose design is equivalent to that of the Ryzen 5 9600X. We’re talking about a model with six Zen 5 cores, all in a CCD coupled to an I/O die. The main difference involves the presence of a 3D V-Cache matrix mounted beneath the CCD to confer better overclocking capabilities and thermal properties than the Ryzen 7000X3D. In actual fact, this CPU should then benefit from a total of 96 MB (32 MB native + 64 MB via 3D V-Cache) of L3 cache coupled with 1 MB of L2 cache per core. When it comes to frequencies, we’re left completely in the dark, as we don’t really know what to expect… Although these may be at least equal to those of the Ryzen 5 9600X, we won’t put our money on it. A 9800X3D is 5.2 GHz turbocharged, as opposed to 5.5 GHz for the 9700X. Now, it remains to be seen when AMD will launch this model, and at what price. However, it would make sense for the Reds to offer it at a maximum of $300, since this is a CPU that would rival Intel’s Core i5 14600K and Core Ultra 5 245K. With its 3D V-Cache memory, this CPU would be ideal for lower-cost gaming configurations. Come on, AMD, this time let’s make a little effort and launch the processor globally, rather than doing what was done with the Ryzen 5 7600X3D and offering it exclusively to certain stores…
