An RX 9070 GRE in China?

Whether it’s AMD or NVIDIA, exclusive hardware is often available in China. It has to be said that China is a big market, so the brands pamper their customers. Anyway, we heard rumours of the launch of a potential new RX 9000 from the red team. Following the sell-out of the non-XT RX 9070, rumour has it that the company is considering launching an RX 9070 GRE!

RX 9070 GRE: a third card for China?

RX 9070 MBAOf course, this is nothing more than a rumour, so we have to take all this with a grain of salt, especially as no precise characteristics are mentioned… Only suppositions. If such a card were to see the light of day, it would be powered by a hypothetical Navi 48 XL GPU with 3584 stream processors or less. As for memory, we’re talking about 12GB of GDDR6 with a 192-bit memory bus.

This configuration would enable the Reds to offer a ‘strategic’ card in terms of performance. The performance gap between the RX 9070 and RX 9060 could be significant, and offering a GRE version would give AMD the opportunity to close this gap. What’s more, this would allow the company to line up a card offering a memory capacity similar to that of the RTX 5070.

Of course, it remains to be seen what the company will do. As for availability, it’s highly likely that such a card will be exclusive to the Chinese market… Although the RX 7900 GRE has arrived here in a very strange way. Initially, the card could only be sold with other components before AMD decides to authorise individual sales. To be continued, as usual.
